Alexander Alimov

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

He has been part of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs system since 1995, holding various positions at the Ministry’s central office and abroad.

2012–2017: Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations.

2017–2022: Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Swiss Confederation.

2022–2025: Director of the Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations.

October 2024 – December 2025: Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

Since December 2025: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, awarded on 11 June 2025.

Decored with the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”, Second Class.
